His photographs, characterized by smoothness of tone and saturation of color, are a blend of an old master painterly calm and contemporary practices. He sets up his still lifes with a single light source and a black background, in the tradition of a Dutch master, and uses a 4x5 camera and an Iris printer to digitally print his photos onto a matt cotton paper.
