The cataloging of the DFL archives and creation of finding aids is a work in progress.
What is a finding aid? It is a list of the contents that is so comprehensive there should be no question of what it contains. Along with the exhaustive list, the finding aid will include: the historical significance of the collection, physical descriptions, such as how many folders, size of box, location of the item, who compiled the information and when.
Creating a finding aid is the first step towards making an original cataloging record. Once an original cataloging record has been made and entered into the OCLN catalog, the finding aid may be removed from this list.
